Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

Korthos publishes independent research, analysis and commentary on robotics and related technologies. Korthos is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to tips@korthos.xyz.

We limit collection to information needed to operate, secure and improve the publication, respond to submissions and provide services you request.

Information we collect

Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and subscription records so Brevo can send the updates you requested. You can unsubscribe using the link in any email.

Optional first-party analytics. Where consent is required, analytics begins only if you allow it. We create random visitor and session identifiers and collect information about pages viewed and interactions with the site. The record may include the page URL and title, referrer and campaign parameters, device and browser information, coarse location derived from the connection and a salted hash of the IP address. The raw IP address is not written to the Korthos analytics event record.

Submissions and correspondence. If you submit a source, correction, profile or other message, we collect the content you provide and any contact details you choose to include. We may also retain an IP hash, user-agent and referrer to prevent abuse and maintain the integrity of submissions.

Service and security data. Hosting and security providers may process connection logs, IP addresses and request information needed to deliver and protect the site.

Cookies, local storage and your choices

For visitors in the United Kingdom and European Economic Area, Korthos does not run optional first-party analytics until you allow it. Outside those regions, limited first-party analytics may run by default where permitted. You can opt out or change your choice at any time using the control below. Your choice is saved in local storage so the site can remember it. If you reject analytics, existing Korthos analytics identifiers are removed and rejecting does not affect the site.

Pages may load media, fonts or links supplied by third parties. If you interact with external or embedded content, that provider may process information under its own privacy policy.

Why we use information

We rely on your consent for the email newsletter and for optional analytics where consent is required. Where permitted, we rely on legitimate interests for limited first-party analytics, and to operate and secure the site, prevent abuse, handle submissions, maintain editorial records and respond to correspondence. Where consent applies, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Service providers and transfers

We use service providers to run Korthos, including Supabase for data infrastructure, Cloudflare and hosting providers for delivery, security and aggregate traffic measurement, and Brevo for newsletter delivery. They process data for Korthos under their contractual terms. Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom and use contractual or other approved safeguards where required.

We do not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising.

How long we keep information

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purpose collected, legal and security requirements, and the integrity of editorial records. Newsletter subscription data is retained until you unsubscribe, after which a limited suppression record may be kept to respect that choice. Analytics and security records are deleted or aggregated when no longer needed. Submissions may be retained as part of the publication's research and correction history.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an objection to processing. You may also withdraw consent. Contact tips@korthos.xyz to make a request.

You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office through ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the opportunity to address the issue first.
