About ABB

ABB supplies electrification and automation technologies for industry, infrastructure, transport and energy systems. Its Robotics division combines industrial and collaborative robot arms, autonomous mobile robots, controllers, application solutions, RobotStudio engineering software and fleet tools. These systems support handling, assembly, welding, painting, machine tending, inspection and intralogistics across automotive, electronics, logistics and general manufacturing.

ABB Robotics operates through more than 100 locations in approximately 53 countries and employs about 11,000 people. In October 2025, ABB agreed to sell the division to SoftBank for an enterprise value of $5.375 billion. The business remained classified by ABB as held for sale and discontinued operations at 30 June 2026, with completion expected in the second half of the year subject to regulatory approval.
