JIATF-401 tests Bumblebee V2 counter-drone prototypes at Fort Bragg

Apr 24, 2026 · Demonstration · Perennial Autonomy · Defense

  • JIATF-401 began testing initial Bumblebee V2 prototypes at Fort Bragg after earlier V1 training with U.S. Army units.
  • V2 adds AI-based automated target recognition, updated software, an improved camera/gimbal package and three-camera sensing.
  • The assessment included 25 Perennial quad-rotor drones and soldier-operated anti-bomber and anti-ISR intercept scenarios out to about 900 meters.

Perennial Autonomy is a U.S. defense autonomy company building AI-enabled counter-UAS systems and low-cost interceptor drones for tactical air defense. Its public product evidence is strongest around Merops and Bumblebee, with Hornet referenced as part of the broader contract portfolio but not yet detailed enough for a standalone product profile.
